It’s great to see Justin Ver Burg and his comedy ventriloquist sidekicks back at it again with his sidekicks. He’s been doing entertainment since he was 15 years old, getting his start at age 15 at the art of ventriloquism. But today, June 16, 2014, he (stage name FunnyDummy) will be shooting one of SEVERAL videos to go on youtube chronicling the life of his comedy sidekicks when they’re off the stage.
He claims that a lot goes on between shows – a lot people don’t know about.
“A lot of people think I just get on stage, do some comedy, put the puppets away, then go on with normal life,” says Justin.
He claims that these puppets take on a life of their own. “People think it’s a lot to have a pet, try having three ventriloquist puppets,” states the comedian.
“They have all these sensitivities, preferences, moods, etc.” continues the ventriloquist. “I have to address each one, otherwise they might not be mentally prepared for the next show.”
He gave several examples, including one time when he and his wife wanted to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary. “Luigi insisted on going,” says Justin. “I was caught in the middle. On the one hand, Luigi could stay home, and then he would refuse to perform in future shows, so we could lose income. Or I could bring him along, it would ruin our trip, but at least we’d still eat,” jokes Justin.
Life can be full of delightful twists and quirks. He says he’s thankful that God has given him this career, and knows that there are drawbacks to almost any profession, you just have to stay focused on the positive and keep moving forward with an upbeat attitude.
